¡Pa’lante!

Our friends, family, and community made our Powerful Together ¡Pa’lante! 5th anniversary a huge success, raising over $80,000! These funds will help in our fight against gentrification; and support our immigrant rights  work; it will fortify our Black Priorities Project — fighting displacement of working class Black communities in the Bay Area; build fierce leadership and a new generation of organizers with our Youth in Power program; and build practical skills and political vision.

This eventful evening was filled with so many inspiring stories. Some highlights from Powerful Together, Pa’lante!-

•    Eight of our member leaders- Mustafa, Paula, Gilbert, Candelario, Manual, Sabrina, Gloria, and Tatiana stood on stage glowing with strength and power telling their stories of resistance against gentrification. As Tatiana said: “I want to see people of my community owning businesses in my community, more affordable housing. We need real support that includes dignified community outreach for misunderstood youth.”

•     Co-Directors Dawn Phillips and Vanessa Moses shared stories of CJJC victories and our new work as a merged organization;
•    The community said farewell to two CJJC key staff, Jaron Browne and Adam Gold as they move on to continue movement work on a national scale;
•    W. Kamau Bell connected community together in laughter and fun and with much generosity gave back to CJJC with a generous gift.
