As our immigrant communities reel from the announcement that the Trump regime ended DACA – Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals – we commit even more deeply to organizing.

Causa Justa is deeply disturbed by the actions of President Trump in the last 6 months of his administration against immigrant and working class communities.

From the Muslim Ban, to the decision to hire 5000 more border patrol and ICE agents while there is a general hiring freeze, to this latest decision to end DACA.

Every single action has showed that his administration stands for racism, criminalization and the dismantling of the progress we have achieved as a community through decades of organizing.

Today we are standing with 800,000 immigrants who are vulnerable to loosing their jobs and economic security and with the 11 million who continue to be threatened with mass deportation and imprisonment.

This administration is taking back DACA, just like this state has revoked and broken treaties with Native Nations. It is like the countless times they started wars of aggression after agreeing to peace, or supporting military coups in our homelands and calling it “defending democracy.”

As immigrants who have been involved in the fight for our rights and dignity we know DACA was never the dream, it was always a temporary fix. The state created DACA as a concession – because so many of us were standing up, because people were becoming unafraid and taking on bold tactics to confront our marginalization.

DACA was a victory of the movement, and after that victory we became stronger and built a strong movement of community defense, strategic resistance and vision. We will continue to say “not one more.” We will continue to build transformative solidarity with all the communities under attack in this administration.

This administration is taking back DACA, just like this state has revoked and broken treaties with Native Nations. It is like the countless times they started wars of aggression after agreeing to peace, or supporting military coups in our homelands and calling it “defending democracy.” It echoes empty promises like “abolishing” slavery but then writing the 13th amendment. Trump rescinding DACA aligns with what the empire has done for hundreds of years – break promises and treaties and roll back hard won concessions.

We will continue to evolve, to survive and shut it down – because we understand that under white supremacy, and capitalism, we are all disposable, shackled and stunted. We will continue to organize centering strategy and dreaming big. The dream where white supremacy and racist capitalism is no more.

Its not enough to expect reform and it won’t be enough to use bold tactics. The 800,000 will stand with the 11 million and with the 2 million in prison and with the millions across the globe who know this system is no good for any of us. Not for our planet, not for our health, not for our development, creativity, love, evolution or integrity. This system never loved us.

It’s time to step it up, build bold strategy and build a new system where we love ourselves and love is mutual for Black People, immigrants, LGBT, working class people. This means getting our needs and dignity met. DACA was never enough, but we, our families are enough, we’ve had enough. It has been time; all of us or none of us!

See you on the streets.

A Defender DACA y Más Allá- Continuamos a Organizar y Soñar Transformativamente

“Hasta que todos estemos libres”/”Until We Are All Free’ Art by Jess X Chen
