National Abolition Day was on June 10 and we at CJJC are reflecting on how abolition is not just a movement, but an everyday practice that shapes our communities and individual lives. Abolition challenges us to rethink justice, dismantle oppressive systems, and build alternatives that truly support and uplift everyone.

Every day, we are influenced by the norms of respectability politics, often policing ourselves and each other in ways that uphold state control and inequality. But there is a different way—a path that rejects these harmful practices and instead champions dignity, transformative justice, and community care.

As a grassroots organization, we tirelessly work for the rights of tenants, immigrants, folks of color, and low-income communities standing firmly against state violence and exploitation.
