FIGHT TO END SECURE COMMUNITIES

Teodora was arrested by Hayward police because of mistaken identity. Because of Secure Communities (S-comm) she was taken in by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), sent to a deportation center, and was separated from her husband and 3 children for 11 days. S-comm is an ICE program that releases information about individuals held in prisons and jails to ICE authorities, thus leaving undocumented individuals at risk for deportation. Teodora is now forced to wear a tracking device on her ankle while her deportation case is pending. She could be separated from her husband and 3 children. We fight to keep families together and end S-comm. DONATE NOW »

With support from other members, Alma spoke to the press, at protests, and other public events. She now sees it as her responsibility to share her story and to encourage others to step out of the shadows and fight for their rights. DONATE NOW »

FIGHT AGAINST SINGLE ROOM OCCUPANCY EVICTIONS

“Musical Rooming” is an illegal practice that happens in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) Hotels, where SRO building managers kick SRO residents out of their rooms after 32 days to prevent a SRO resident from gaining tenant rights. People are forced into a nomadic existence moving from hotel to hotel. SRO residents are pushed into unstable conditions that can lead to homelessness. We fight against the forced evictions of SRO residents. DONATE NOW »
