Auction_Action_Nell_3_8_12_39aFreddie Mac and Fannie Mae together have received $153 billion of bailout money and that figure is expected to go over $353 billion by the end of 2013.

Their work is supposed to help the 99% have affordable homes. Instead, they use our money to bet against us being able to get loan modifications. They have the power to decide whether the banks, which service the loans (Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citibank and others) use the programs (HAMP, HAFA and others also paid for by us), to make our mortgages affordable by modifying the loans the banks sold us.

When we default on those loans, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and the banks use the court system (which we pay for) to take our homes and evict us. That’s what is happening to CJJC members, Oakland families and millions of other families, disproportionately Black and Latino, female and elder, throughout the United States.

We demand:
* Principal reduction to real value for all underwater homeowners
* End all Fannie-Freddie evictions.  Accept rent. And respect renters’ rights.
* Sell foreclosed property to occupants or non-profits at real value.  Not to Investors Hedge Funds!
* Turn vacant REO property over to community controlled entities/institutions (don’t bulk sell at steep discounts to Hedge Funds, Big Banks & Investors) in order to convert properties to long term affordable housing accessible to renters, homeless families/individuals, and former homeowners.Join us to make Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac change their policies. Over a quarter of all the homeowners in the United States are underwater. Fannie & Freddie hold over 7 million of those mortgages. But we, the people, own 82% of Fannie and Freddie.

What’s at stake are the families and communities that make this country work. People like the Perez family of Oakland, CA, who just got a notice to evict by next week. Or like CJJC housing counselor Nell Myhand, who just received a 3-day notice and is demanding that her home be put into a community land trust.

That’s why CJJC and Right to the City are teaming up with the Home Defenders League, Alliance for Just Society, Occupy Our Homes and groups across the United States for the Clean House at Fannie and Freddie Campaign. Together we’re demanding they do the right thing for their owners: the people of the United States.

Click here to stand with the millions of underwater homeowners and families facing or living through foreclosure eviction and demand Fannie and Freddie institute mortgage resets, loan modifications, a foreclosure and eviction moratorium,  the right to rent and buy back, and respect tenants rights!

Join us to make Fannie and Freddie change their policies to keep millions of families in their homes, and provide relief that will help jump-start our lagging economy and allow working families to have control over their future. Sign the petition. Together we can make a change.

It’s time for us, the 99%, to Clean House at Fannie and Freddie

Hello, my name is                     . I’m a taxpayer calling to speak with Ed DeMarco

It’s inexcusable that under your supervision Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac continue to evict families from their homes.

I’m a supporter of four families who have been struggling to stay in their homes while Freddie Mac directs its agents to evict families from their homes, rather than supporting taxpayers’ need to be housed.

I’m calling today to demand that as the person in charge, you direct Freddie Mac to concede to the requests of these four families:

1. Perez Family: STOP THE EVICTION and accept rent from the Perez Family, property address is 2833 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Oakland CA 94609.

The Perez Family is threatened with eviction on 10/2/12 because Freddie Mac denied their loan modification in 2010 and again in 2011, while they were betting against homeowners being able to get loan modifications. Call, fax, and email to demand that Freddie Mac stop eviction proceeding and accept rent from the family.

2. Vida Bottom: STOP THE AUCTION and modify the loan on Vida Bottom’s home, property address is 883 Alma Place, Oakland CA 94610

Vida Bottom is an 83 year Black grandmother whose family home of more than 50 years is scheduled to be auctioned on 10/1/12 because Freddie Mac is refusing to modify the loan after giving the family a runaround for the last two years. Call, fax, email and demand that the house be taken off the action block and that they receive the loan modification they need and deserve.

3. Manuel De Paz: MODIFY THE LOAN for Manuel De Paz, property address is 2420 77th Ave Oakland CA 94605.
Manuel De Paz stopped paying his mortgage in December 2011 after he requested help to modify his loan but got a runaround from the bank instead. He submitted an application in February of 2012 and again in April. Now the bank is  demanding that he submit a new application ! Call, fax, email and demand that they modify the loan.

AND..
4. Nell Myhand/Synthia Green: I’m calling to voice my support for COMMUNITY CONTROL OF HOUSING, Freddie Mac should be helping to pilot a program to land trust homes for permanent affordable housing, start with the home of Nell Myhand and Synthia Green, property address is 1329 E. 32nd St, Oakland CA, 94602.

Nell Myhand and Synthia Green are demanding that their home be turned over to a land trust after it was repossessed at auction because Freddie Mac declined to modify their loan 3 times. Now Synthia, a blind retired teacher living on disability income and Nell a part-time housing counselor are facing eviction. Call, fax, email and express your support for community control of housing.
I do not want my tax dollars used to improperly foreclose on and then evict families.

Thank you.
