We are thrilled to announce and invite you to Causa Justa :: Just Cause’s 5-year anniversary celebration, Powerful Together, Pa’lante! on May 28, 2015 at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center in Oakland.

This event will celebrate our successful merger with POWER and the inspiring work that we are already moving together with our united memberships! We are excited to invite our members, community allies, and supporters to join us in celebrating the transformation of our organization, our communities, and the world.

Our member leaders are looking forward to an inspiring and POWERful 2015!

Mustafa Solomon came to CJJC as a client and is now a core leader of our housing right campaigns:

“I think [the merger] will make both POWER and CJJC stronger. I’m most excited about the Black Priorities Project (BPP). It allows me to bring my experience as a Black tenant and organizer to the work. My organizing skills are stronger now because of BPP and my work with Black Lives Matter. I’m excited to be collectively working together with young leaders, uniting the Black and Latino communities, and starting a movement to change the world.”

Violet Vasquez is a long time youth leader from POWER who mentors new youth members:

“I’m excited to see the youth program expand to other high schools and see the youth activism that takes off there. June Jordan, Thurgood Marshall and other schools are inviting us into their spaces because there’s a need for youth to get connected. I’m juiced to see how these youth are going to develop as leaders in Causa Justa, and the impact they’ll have on our organization!”

¡Guarde la fecha para Causa Justa :: Just Cause!

Nos encanta anunciar e invitarle a la celebración del 5o aniversario de Causa Justa :: Just Cause, ¡Poderosos Juntos, Pa’lante! el 28 de mayo de 2015 en el Centro Cultural Asiático (Asian Cultural Center) de Oakland.

¡Con este evento celebramos nuestra exitosa unión con POWER y el trabajo inspirador que ya hacemos juntas las personas de las dos organizaciones! Nos emociona invitar a nuestros miembros, aliados comunitarios y partidarios a acompañarnos en celebrar la transformación de nuestra organización, nuestras comunidades y el mundo.

¡Nuestros miembro-líderes ven con gusto un 2015 inspirador y llena de POWER (= poder)!

Mustafa Solomon vino a CJJC como cliente y ahora es un líder principal de nuestras campañas por los derechos de vivienda. “Creo que [la unión] hará más fuerte tanto a POWER como a CJJC. Lo que más me emociona es el Proyecto de Prioridades de los Afroamericanos (BPP por sus siglas en inglés). Me ofrece la oportunidad de aportar al trabajo mi experiencia tanto de inquilino afroamericano como de organizador. Mis habilidades de organizador están más fuertes ahora por el BPP y mi trabajo con Sí Importan las Vidas de los Afroamericanos (Black Lives Matter). Me emociona trabajar junto con los líderes jóvenes, uniendo a las comunidades afroamericanas y latinas, e iniciando a un movimiento para cambiar el mundo”.

Violet Vásquez, que ha sido un líder joven de POWER por mucho tiempo, es una mentora de los nuevos miembros jóvenes. “Me emociona ver que el programa juvenil se extienda a otras escuelas secundarias y ver el activismo juvenil que despega desde allí. Las escuelas June Jordan, Thurgood Marshall y otras nos invitan a sus espacios porque hace falta que los jóvenes se conecten entre sí. ¡Me encanta ver cómo estos jóvenes se van a desarrollar como líderes de Causa Justa y el impacto que van a tener en nuestra organización”!
